Lakshmi Yoga is one of the auspicious wealth yogas of classical Vedic astrology, named for the goddess of wealth and fortune. The yoga forms when the lord of the 9th house (the house of fortune and dharma) is in own sign or exalted and placed in a kendra or trikona, with Venus (the karaka of Lakshmi) also well-placed. The yoga gives wealth, beauty, refinement, and the kind of fortune that classical texts associate with divine grace.

Lakshmi Yoga forms when (1) the 9th lord occupies its own sign or exaltation sign, (2) the 9th lord is in a kendra (1, 4, 7, 10) or trikona (1, 5, 9) house, and (3) Venus is dignified (own sign, exalted, or in a friendly sign in a kendra/trikona). All three conditions are required for the full yoga; partial Lakshmi Yoga (with weaker Venus) gives diluted but still favourable results.

Lakshmi Yoga is strongest when both the 9th lord and Venus are in own/exalted signs simultaneously, when neither is combust or afflicted, and when the running dasha activates one of them. Venus exalted in Pisces in the 9th, with the 9th lord (Jupiter) in own sign in a kendra, is a textbook strong Lakshmi Yoga configuration.

Cancelling factors: 9th lord combust or retrograde in dusthana, Venus combust or debilitated without cancellation, conjunction of either with Saturn (which converts Lakshmi's grace into austerity) or Rahu (which produces unpredictable wealth). Even moderate weakness dilutes Lakshmi Yoga to nominal status.

പരമ്പരാഗത ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങൾ
The Venus condition on this page comes from Phaladeepika, not from Parashara. Phaladeepika 6.21 requires the lord of the 9th and Venus both to be in their own or exaltation houses identical with a trikona or a kendra. BPHS 36.27-28 gives a different second condition: the 9th lord in an angle identical with his moolatrikona, own or exaltation sign, while the ascendant lord is endowed with strength, and Venus plays no part in it. Phaladeepika 6.24 gives the result as freedom from disease, wealth, brilliance, protection of his people, palanquins and elephants, and the blessing of the goddess of wealth. BPHS 36.28 gives charm, virtue, kingly status, many sons, abundant wealth and fame. Neither verse says the wealth arrives without struggle or arrives by inheritance. Saravali carries no yoga of this name.
