Ayushya Homam is the fire rite for longevity and recovery from illness, invoking Lord Ayur (the deity of life-span) and Lord Dhanvantari (the deity of medicine). Performed on a child's birth tithi each year (Janma-Tithi Vrata), on the elder's birth-nakshatra each month, before a major surgery, or as a long-life rite during the running of a Maraka dasha.
