The mantra
ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय। पितरः ममान्ये पितृभ्यः स्वधा नमः
oṃ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya. pitaraḥ mamānye pitṛbhyaḥ svadhā namaḥ
Salutations to Vasudeva. To my ancestors and to all the fathers, I offer the svadha. The Vishnu mantra carries the offering forward.

A Vishnu mantra paired with pitru tarpan, used during Pitru Paksha and on the death-anniversary tithi of a parent.
When to chant
During Pitru Paksha (the dark fortnight of Ashwin), on amavasya, on the death-anniversary tithi of a parent, and at sunrise facing south. Combine with a small water tarpan.
